How To Maximize Your Samsung Battery Life

Samsung devices are known for having pretty good battery life. But if you want to squeeze even more out of them, there are a few things you can try. Some might be ideal for your needs, some might not, so take a look through them all and see which ones are most likely to work for you.

If you are a power-hungry user, the following tips will help you get a little more battery life from your Samsung device.

Samsung Battery Saving Method 1: “Switch over to Dark Mode”

The reason this one saves battery life is because it cuts down on power used by the OLED display. Any part of your screen that displays as black, means the pixels are turned off and not using any battery power.

First, go to Settings > Display > Dark.

If you want to customize it for certain times of the day, tap on “Dark mode settings > Turn on as scheduled” and select the schedule you need.

You will get two options. Choose “Sunset to Sunrise” for dark mode to automatically turn on at night and turn off in the morning. You’ll need to turn on your location for this.

Select “Custom Schedule” to set your own specific dark mode schedule.

Samsung Battery Saving Method 2: “Switch Over to 60Hz”

Switching your resolution from adaptive 120 HZ to standard 60 HZ makes quite a big difference. It saves battery life without impacting the performance too much.

Go to Settings > Display >Motion Smoothness > Standard

Samsung Battery Saving Method 3: “Switch To FHD”

Another battery saving option is to change the display resolution from QHD Plus to full HD Plus. It reduces battery usage, while only making a small difference in terms of display quality.

Go to Settings > Display > Screen Resolution > FHD.

Samsung Battery Saving Method 4: “Turn Off Always On Display”

Another thing to try is turning off “Always On Display”. This feature can drain battery life unnecessarily. You can customize the always-on settings.

Tap on Settings > Lock screen settings > Always on display. You can toggle it off or on. If you turn it on, you'll see “when to show” with 5 options. Change it to suit your preferences.

Samsung Battery Saving Method 5 “Turn Off Nearby Device Scanning”

Another option to increase your Samsung battery life is to turn off nearby device scanning.

Go to Settings > Connections > More Connection Settings > Nearby device scanning and toggle it off.

This will stop your device from always searching for nearby devices in the background and draining previous battery life.

Samsung Battery Saving Method 6: “Turn Off Extra Brightness”

The extra brightness is useful if you’re using your device outdoors or in brightly lit environments, as it makes it easier to see what's happening on your display. If you're mainly using your device indoors, then limiting the brightness on your screen can stop it draining battery power when you don't need it. Simply go to Settings > Display > Extra brightness and turn it off.

Samsung Battery Saving Method 7: “Turn Off 5G”

Turning off 5G when you don’t use it saves a lot of battery, especially if you’re in a country that has limited 5G connectivity. Turn it off by going to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Network Mode.

Samsung Battery Saving Method 8: “Turn Performance Mode To Light”

Opting to use light mode in performance settings will use less battery power. Go to Settings > Device Care > Battery > More Battery Settings > Better Performance Profile > Light

You’ll still get good performance, but it dials your device back a bit to get a bit more battery life or better cooling.

Samsung Battery Saving Method 9: “Turn On Power Saving Mode”

If you need to save battery life quickly, you can turn on power saving mode. Go to Settings > Battery > Power Saving.

You can save more battery life by limiting background apps too or use adaptive power saving mode to automatically turn your device on and off based on usage patterns.

Samsung Battery Saving Method 10: “Enable  Battery Protection”

Galaxy models with One UI 6.1 or later, have three battery protection features. Go to Settings > Battery go > Battery protection and enable this feature if it's disabled. The three options are:

  • Basic
  • Adaptive
  • Maximum

Selecting “maximum” means your device will never charge over 80%, which is healthy for lithium-ion batteries.

Samsung Battery Saving Method 11: “Select Screen Timeout”

Go to Settings > Display > Screen timeout and select your preferred time, which starts at 15 seconds and goes up to 10 minutes.
