What’s the role of a product designer?
Product designers at Bouncepad are responsible for improving our current products and developing new products. We start with user-focused research to help decide the best problems to solve. We then bring new products to life from sketch, to prototype, to testing the end result.
What’s your favourite part of the design process?
I enjoy the initial stages of idea generation where there’s often several answers to a problem but through sketching and conversation we choose the route that makes the most sense.
Where / how do you look for inspiration for project ideas?
A lot of my inspiration comes directly from customer feedback or going out to see how our current products are being used ‘in the wild’. I also keep an open mind when I’m out and about, sometimes I’ll see an improvised solution to a problem that I can take back to the team for development.
What challenges come with designing tablet accessories?
The tablet industry is always changing and keeping our current products up to date is really important to us, but it can be a lot of work! This changing landscape also reinforces the need for flexibility in the new products we are currently developing - trying to keep them open and updatable.
As a designer, what do you think is the most important aspect of your job?
My role is often to represent the end user and champion what customers come to Bouncepad for – great looking products that are easy to use and built to last.
