Level39 welcomes members with high-tech meeting rooms

Level39, Europe’s largest technology incubator, is based in Canary Wharf and hosts 200 different technology-based member companies. We spoke with their Head of Technology, Qaunain Meghjee to see why he’s using Bouncepad products across Level39’s multiple floors.

Tech businesses are at the heart of Level39, so it’s important that all digital processes are seamless and to achieve this Qaunain Meghjee is increasingly makings use of tablets across their four floors. “We currently have eleven iPads serving a range of self service, automation and smart technology functions throughout Level39 and have plans to rollout many more to further streamline and innovate use cases.”

They have six visitor self-check-in tablets, three of their fifteen meetings rooms are smart rooms which fully run off iPads and they have an onsite restaurant bar which runs off two iPads.

“Our smart rooms and visitor-self-check-in systems are used 24/7 by thousands of users and with Bouncepad, it gives us peace of mind that the devices will stay on, can move around but can’t go missing, are protected due to the strength and look slick and modern.”

Level39’s member companies and their employees make use of a high-tech meeting room and visitor booking system which allows them to keep everything in check. Members can view meeting rooms across the floors and book the ones they want, invite internal employees and external visitors to join and everyone is sent an email of the place, date, time and a unique visitor check-in code. Once visitors arrive they can enter their code into the self-check-in tablets dotted around different reception areas. The system immediately knows who the visitor is, what tablet they are located near and automatically sends an SMS and robot voice call to their host.

The ‘smart rooms’ are completely controlled by iPads and were actually based around the UK government’s cyber demonstration center which Level39 host. These rooms have multiple screens, HD cameras, microphones and speakers. The iPad controller can be used to manage the room and its features, for example, users can instantly invite new visitors into the conference with a few clicks, they can share screens, participants can annotate their phone or laptop for others to see and they can record audio or video. It’s not uncommon for Level39’s members to record podcasts and video demos using the smart rooms iPad controller’s.

“Bouncepad enclosures are super strong, reliable...and importantly always stay on charge with a non-removable cable, meaning we can just leave them and not have to worry that the tablet has lost power.”

Level39 have Bouncepads in two out of three of these ‘smart rooms’. Meghjee has made it a policy to only use Bouncepads going forward for other meeting rooms that are in the pipeline to be upgrade. Along with other use cases for tablets he has in mind, such as wall tablets that will let you view and book meeting rooms while showing their availabilities in real time. He mentioned “Bouncepad enclosures are super strong, reliable, come in multiple variations for all our use cases, lock into furniture to prevent them being removed and importantly always stay on charge with a non-removable cable meaning we can just leave them and not have to worry that the tablet has lost power.”

Across four floors, Level39 has multiple front of house staff, “The Bouncepads make their jobs easier. They know the visitor self-check-in tablets are secure, won’t lose power and visitors can move them around to suit their needs with the clever bendable flex arm, without the worry of the tablets losing power or moving away from their designated areas.”

“There’s lots of different options and designs for all of our use cases and Bouncepad’s team are always available for a call to advise on different scenarios – it’s no surprise so many major brands, stores and restaurants are using them.”

With the 200 tech companies they house in Level39 there are about 1250 employees, it’s important to reduce the risk of things failing as much as possible and thanks to Bouncepad this risk is reduced. The high-tech meeting rooms mean companies can save time when interviewing and conducting important international meetings, while the visitor self-check-in areas allow members to operate quickly and around the clock.

“Bouncepad is the only one that does it properly. We bought some other enclosures for our various tablets, some from reputable brands but they would not keep the charger cable locked in. We also bought some generic enclosures as a temporary measure from Amazon, but they were even more temporary than we thought as the locks didn’t last long. After some trial and error I’ve realised Bouncepad is the best way to get it right and reduce wasted time.”

“We’ve already decided that we’ve found the right cases and we don’t need to waste any more time looking. It charges, it locks, we can take it around if we move anywhere. It’s easy to put it together, there’s lots of different options and designs for all of our use cases and Bouncepad’s team are always available for a call to advise on different scenarios, it’s no surprise so many major brands, stores and restaurants are using them.”

“With other cases we had issues – the case won’t hold the iPad up for long, or the charger cable keeps coming out, that the iPad has lost power. Since having the Bouncepad, we’ve not had a single issue, I think that says it all.”
