As both the retail and hospitality sectors turn their focus to physical experience, businesses are looking for ways to keep their customers entertained for as long as possible.
Increasingly, we are seeing lounge bars and entertainment stations popping up, allowing customers to watch videos, browse product catalogues and play games. Having these extra touchpoints makes customer experience more fun, encouraging them to enjoy themselves and hangout longer. In turn, this increases dwell time and opens up more sales opportunities.
McDonald’s transformed its brand reputation by installing tablet infotainment kiosks in thousands of its branches. Keeping children entertained whilst they wait for food, the QSR (quick service restaurant) is now a popular family destination which encourages people to sit down and enjoy their meal – more than ever before.
Tommy Hilfiger also implemented this strategy in its flagship store in Germany. “Bringing the digital brand into the store environment creates more touchpoints for the customer, increases dwell time, and makes for more engaged shoppers,” the IT director of their parent company PVH explained.
Like the sound of this? Here’s some useful tips to help you get started:
– Make sure you choose the right tablet for you. Stuck on what to go with? Let us help you with that. We’ve weighed up the three main contenders here.
– No two tablet projects are the same, so it should come as no surprise that the recipe for a successful tablet rollout doesn’t include a one-size-fits all approach.
– Lock your iPad in kiosk mode so customers can’t switch off your intended application and on to their own Instagram account. Find out how here.
– Make sure you have Mobile Device Management (MDM) sorted. Why? Because MDM lets you simply deploy, secure, monitor, update and manage multiple mobile devices. That includes OS configuration and updates, app provisioning and de-provisioning, remote wipe capabilities, and remote viewing/control for troubleshooting purposes, all through a single dashboard or central console. See more about MDM here.
