Why Tablet Stands Were Needed

In a TV production as high profile as Beast Games, attention to detail is everything. 

As you’ll see if you watch the show, tablet stands are integral to the whole contestant experience. In-between challenges, each contestant stands in a sectioned off square that has a tablet stand in each one, displaying the challenge details and tracking progress.

Beast Games Challenge – 1,000 Stands in Six Weeks!

In late May 2024, we received an email from the show’s Art Director, Nathan Carden, asking if there was any way we could provide 1,000 tablet stands that were "absolutely as thin as possible". They needed them for filming by the end of July. 

The stands needed to be sturdy, quick to install, cost-effective, and customizable enough to mount a camera for capturing contestant reactions.

How We Delivered

Step 1: Finding the Perfect Solution

We began by shipping a sample of our Original Floor Standing Slim model which ticked most of the boxes on the brief. After receiving and reviewing the sample, Nathan and his team quickly shared their feedback. 

Whilst the product performed well we had two issues to resolve before they could proceed with an order. The large gloss surface on the Original Range enclosure would be a nightmare to film, as it would reflect light and cause glare. Secondly, they weren’t sure which tablet model they would use for the show. They also needed to fit a camera to catch contestant reactions.

Step 2: Customization and Collaboration

With the Floorstanding Slim mount chosen, the next step was to resolve the feedback from the sample and action the requested customizations.

Not knowing the tablet was no issue at all, as our new Core Range was just about to launch, which being tablet universal, allowed Nathan and his team to choose the tablet model at the very last minute. And changing the finish from our standard gloss to matt to avoid reflections and glare when filming was no problem at all! 

For the Camera mount, we supplied drawings of our Universal Card Reader mount, which Nathan and his team used as the basis for a custom designed bracket to secure their camera. We used their concept to produce drawings and then manufacture a sample. 

Within just two weeks of our initial conversations we had a customised sample delivered and ready for review. 

Step 3: Rapid Production and Delivery

With the sample quickly approved the order was placed on June 13th, 2024 and the Bouncepad team sprang into action. 

Our highly-optimized production processes and dedicated logistics team meant we successfully delivered the entire order by July 24th – just six weeks from order to delivery. This was a monumental task, with favors being pulled, arms being bent and suppliers chased right up until the last moment!
