Showpass is an event and ticketing company that helps organizers run events. Clients use their software to sell tickets as well as hiring them for on-site support for visitor arrival.
Showpass assists its clients in ticketing in various ways, sometimes this means providing them with iPods so they can scan tickets and sometimes larger scale applications are needed. In these cases, they use devices coined ‘Steves’, which are some of the fastest scanning solutions they have. Steve is a full standalone check-in station.
“Steve helps simplify the ticketing scanning process for our clients,” explains Sawyer Pahl, Marketing Coordinator at Showpass. “The sensor on an iPhone is not as precise as the hardware we have on our Steve solution. We designed a custom housing to put a scanner onto the Bouncepad Floorstanding, this allows one security guard to watch over two devices, meaning less staff needed. We just use the tablet as an indicator, it goes green if the person can come in and red if they can’t.”
Used for a variety of events; film festivals, bars, clubs, food and wine festivals and golf events, Steve is used at the entrances and in VIP areas. They can provide a luxurious experience for the VIP guests, allowing them to enter and re-enter by scanning their wristbands.
Most critically it’s used where there is a high volume of visitors. Rather than needing to double up on staff, one person can watch over two lines. This reduces the number of staff and gets people into the event faster with shorter queue times.
“We shopped around online but we went for Bouncepad because we wanted the option that had the best support. It was also quickest to source from the options we looked at.”
“Our clients are really happy; they love the Steve solution. It’s just a lot easier for them. It means quicker queues and it’s a bit more hands-off for the people running the gates – so they’re really happy with it.”
“We’ve had them over a year and use them at all sorts of different events. We rent them out at a daily rate and they also have a sign on the front so it’s a little bit of extra exposure if you have the device at the front of the event.”

“The guests are usually delighted to have this self-scanning device to check themselves in. The PGA Champions Tour is a good demonstration of how easy the Steves were to use. The older demographic of volunteers for this PGA champions tour, Shaw Charity Classic, was very happy to use our self-check in solution.”
