Kiosk Solution Helps Keep Tablets Protected at Glasgow Science Centre

Everyday, thousands of visitors stop by the Glasgow Science Centre (GSC), a major attraction in Scotland’s largest city. Met with new and exciting concepts of science and technology, the centre attracts upwards of 450,000 visitors a year.

Over the last few years, GSC has been opening a number of new exhibitions, as well as re-launching the Glasgow Tower. Many of these exhibitions began using tablets to connect with visitors and spur engagement through interactive content like questionnaires, educational games, augmented reality software, and general information terminals.

GSC needed a hardware solution that was durable enough to withstand the demands of such a high-traffic and challenging environment, whilst helping to avoid vandalism and theft. They also required different tablet enclosures based on the installation environments for each exhibit, something that the variety of the Bouncepad range was ideally suited to cater for.

GSC selected Bouncepad’s tablet enclosures because they looked sleek and met the robust durability measures necessary for the project.

“We wanted to introduce a new way to communicate with our customers and needed robust housings for the tablets we wanted to use. It was the first time we were buying tablet enclosures and having looked at what was available on the market, we felt that Bouncepad offered the most robust solution,” said Jenny Templeman, Exhibition and Projects Manager, Glasgow Science Centre. “We will certainly contact Bouncepad again for future projects.”

Since 2013, GSC has ordered a variety of Bouncepad tablet enclosures, including the Sumo and Floorstanding, for a variety of in-house and external projects.
